Bolus

Dose of a drug or a contrast material or other injected pharmaceutical preparation injected over a very short time. The most common bolus used is intravenous and consists of the administration of a drug in a short period of time to obtain greater effectiveness in an emergency situation, when the drug cannot be diluted (as with some antineoplastic drugs), or when the treatment goal is to achieve maximum drug levels in the bloodstream.
