Intrathecal Chemotherapy

Form of chemotherapy in which the drug is administered through a needle placed in the spine by puncture of the intrathecal space. The purpose sought is that the drug remains in the space around the spinal cord and cerebrospinal fluid. At the end of treatment administration, the needle is removed. After the procedure, headache and even vomiting may occur. Treatment consists of relative rest. (See Lumbar Puncture).
